Playing to Heal
Creative arts therapy groups
Playing to Heal is a group process for individuals who would like to use the embodied arts to work through residual aspects of past trauma like sexual abuse to (re)claim lost parts of themselves. This group is run on principles of feminism and narrative practices and draws on drama therapy theories and practice. In Playing to Heal, we co-create a safe space that evokes play, an affirmative relationship with our bodies, and a sense of openness and acknowledgement of pleasure. Playing to Heal is typically a series that is 8-12 sessions long and requires a closed and consistent group. It has been offered independently for women who want to work through CSA related residues and also been conducted by FAHI in association with NIMHANS for the women psychiatrists of the organisation to look at traumatic residues that they carry.
